Grandpa Arturix is our oldest resident… at 19 years old!!!
Grandpa Arturix was found in Isla Mujeres, he was on the side walk, taking the sun. He had a family, and they must have done something right for him to reach such an age, however, when he came to us he was in poor shape… very dirty, covered in ticks and matted.
He is also blind and almost fully deaf.
And yet, he’s such a gentleman and a sweet boy, he adapted to the shelter routine without much issue… he was sad at first, but now he does his thing, roams around, he’s potty trained and loves to sit by the sun and take the longest naps. He is very loved!!!
Grandpa Arturix is not available for adoption. Age is a big obstacle, but also, he has ehrlichia and heartworm, and while he’s being treated, and he’s healthy in general, he is a medically complex dog.
That’s why he is part of our HEALING PAWS Program. A special sponsorship initiative we designed for dogs that will be at the shelter for a long time, or forever, and that have complex medical needs that will require higher expenses and constant care.
