MORE INFO:

Lucy is a boxer mix doggie we found on the side of the highway, she was lliving by a restaurant and the people there tied her up to a tree so she wouldn’t get hit by the many trucks in the area. She was living with a foot-long chain inside and old broken fridge. It was a brutal sight and she was choking on this chain… So we got her in, got her healthy and found her a home, sadly she needs to be rehomed now as where she lives is not meeting her needs.

Why? Well, because Lucy, while she gets along fantastically with the resident dog and cat and loves her humans with passion, she’s reactive on the leash to strange dogs, this doesn’t happen all the time, seems to be a few episodes now and then, and she is a Boxer mix… while her current mom has experience with the breed, Lucy seems to make herself the boss and while usually listens very well, on the leash with strange dogs around (and she lives on Isla Mujeres so most dogs are offleash) she has a hard time.

This is issue that shouldn’t be an issue, potential for training locally is very limited though interestingly with the local trainer her reaction on the leash was not a problem at all, and there are no options for her to run free in a contained area, or even get to meet other dogs in a safe controlled setting. It’s truly just dogs that she doesn’t know, while she’s on a leash. This may not make her a great candidate for busy cities, and we would love for her new family to have experience on the breed and have the time to invest in her training… because Lucy is young, she has a ton of potential and we believe that a proper structure and routine will resolve this issue.

Lucy has been through hell and back, and she probably would have die there where she was. We saved her life, and now we have to find a home where she is cherished, loved, trained, and exercised. Lucy has so much potential, she lives with another dog and a cat, she loves every human she meets, she’s wiggly and fun.

Lucy is a bit of a project, but truly not a hard one, she doesn’t have severe behavioural issues, and we believe she would do fantastic with training and a stimulating environment. But, do keep in mind, she’s an energetic dog and we want to make sure her needs are met!
